Natural Neem Oil
Neem oil is listed on the labels of many household and toiletry products, it hydrates and protects surfaces and skin. It is safe to use on foods and around children and animals, and it leaves no residue or surfaces or in the soil. Wax, oil, creams and soap have been made from its seeds for centuries. One of the major recent developments is the use of Neem oil and leaf for pets and farm animals even though neem for animals has been known in many places for centuries as an Ayurvedic traditional natural medicine.
Benefits
Neem oil contains omega-6 and -9 essential fatty acids and vitamin E, but most of its benefits come from triterpenes (a natural chemical and inflammatory compound in plants). Nimbin is the anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antifungal, antihistamine, and fever reducing component. The only drawback to using it is the smell, similar to garlic and quite strong. If you like the smell of garlic then it is not a problem.
Contents
Neem is a powerful substance and that it is natural makes it better in many circumstances that using branded medicine. For all health uses, non-cosmetic, monitor closely the first time you use neem. Removal of neem is simple and fast, just wash it off.
Many Ways to Use Neem Oil
Used as directed in a 1-10 parts solution in water. There are some natural aromatics that can transform the odour, such as rosemary, dill or basil. Just use these fresh pureed and strained or infused in the water you use to dilute the neem.
Any animal shampoo can be turned into neem shampoo by adding some neem seed oil, (about 1 Neem Oil part to 20 parts shampoo).
If you are making your own shampoo, the quality of the ingredients is important, so don’t use bargain basement stuff.
Neem Oil is solid at low temperatures
Neem Spray or Salve
You can make a spray using 1 part neem to 20 parts water, and combining neem with a high quality emulsifier like a mild liquid soap. It makes a great ointment for irritations, inflammation, and healing injuries.
Neem Animal Shampoo after Parasite Infestations
Bathing with a neem animal shampoo is of course also an excellent way to clean up after mange or ringworm. Make sure you leave the shampoo in for several minutes (as long as your animal will tolerate it) before rinsing. Do this two or three times a week. That usually does the job. Adding Conditioner with neem will assist with any skin conditions.
If you have a severe case of anything you may want to try pure neem oil.
Don’t use it undiluted, though, especially if your pet has cracked, open skin, oozing sores etc. This would be a great time to use the salve or spray.  Then massage the oil mixture into the skin. You can apply it several times a day on problem spots.
Injuries and Skin Conditions
For hot spots like moist eczema, or to treat demodectic mange, you can increase the concentration to a 1:1 ratio. Some people do use 100% pure neat neem oil in those cases. Don’t leave the pure oil on the skin for more than 48 hours, or the animal may develop an irritation. Also monitor the skin, and if there is any reaction, wash the oil of immediately. For tendonitis, sprains and other inflammatory injuries apply the ointment several times daily and cover with a waterproof bandage or plastic wrap. The warmth will help the healing and keep the muscles relaxed.
Liquid Soap
See our natural liquid soap that is ideally suited for our neem oil. This is because our liquid soap is also highly multi. It has been made for all kinds of applications ranging from personal, household and garden. The most functional liquid soap we could find, and of course – it is top quality too !

After years of using ineffective and harsh pesticides on houseplant pests, this stuff is a game changer! Also very effective on the roses outside to protect against aphids. Reasonably priced, effective, delivered really fast. It does have a strong scent, but I find it actually quite pleasant – smells a bit like brazil nuts.

Very pleased with the speed of delivery. It appears to be working well on my camellia after a week of daily spraying. Hoping that I’ve won the battle against the aphids with my first purchase of Neem Oil, which I’ll probably have other uses for…..

Just purchased my second bottle of cold pressed neem oil as the first bottle proved so effective against aphids and spider mites that have been attacking my plants in previous years, particularly my brugmansias that on occasions looked like lace table clothes.
My only criticism is the application instructions are not detailed sufficiently and by trial and error I recommend the following mixing proportions for spray applications based on using a 2 litre milk carton:
Neem oil 2 Tablespoons
Baking powder 4 Tablespoons
Liquid soap 3 Tablespoons
Water warm 2 litres
Give it a try – you won’t be sorry.

I gaze across the killing fields littered with the bodies of my enemies, once plump green and squidgy, jovially feasting and colonising their chosen lily, unexpectant of the neemy death that was soon to rain down upon them, with a touch of fairy liquid for emusification purposes. None have survived. I see their now soggy withered husks and wonder… is this too much power for mortal man to wield…

Poor instructions for use
Malcolm (verified owner) –
I have just used my recently purchased need Oil on some shrubs that were very badly attacked by pest last year. At this stage I cannot say if it will be effective.
I am disappointed at the level of guidance in the use of the product. I did post a question on the neem website and recieved an answer that only partly answered my query. As far as I can see there is no information regarding the frequency of use as an insecticide. I asked about a drench treatment but was told a spray would be better but with a rapidly growing shrub would this be effective as new leaves appear every day almost? Some of the website answers refer to information on the label. On my product there is no lnformation on use.
Regarding mixing I have used a pure soap with the neem in accordance with the web instructions. The amount of soap was not enough to fully emulsify the oil so transfer into the spray was very uneven. I significantly increased the amount of soap which seemed to give complete breakdown of the oil in the solution. I don’t doubt that I have bought a top class material but some more information on useage would be beneficial.

Caterpillars loathe it and drop off immediately. Does anybody know if the birds who then eat the caterpillars are harmed?
Have also sprayed scale insects on nectarine tree in cold greenhouse, but must wait til spring to see if the infestation has been reduced.

Ourons Neem oil is little short of miraculous! Before applying it, our 2 bay trees were dying before our eyes. The life was being sucked out of them by horrible caterpillar-like creatures. But after only a couple of applications of Neem oil mixed with liquid soap and water, their attackers are all dead, and our beloved bay trees are shiny and healthy again. Thankyou Ourons!
